| – isn’t that a bit of a chicken and egg thing, mick, given that a classical rather than a specialist or ‘modern’ education was precisely the type thought to equip gentlemen (women, if I remember correctly, couldn’t graduate from Cambridge til 1921, not sure about Oxford) to rule an Empire? So there we have status and culture and their legacies once again. |
